Ribbon cutting for the opening of the Ventnor City Farmers Market last year.
The Ventnor City Farmers' Market will celebrate its fifth year with opening day slated for Friday, May 28 at Atlantic and Newport avenues. The market will be held 8:30 a.m. to noon and the season runs through Labor Day weekend.
This year's market will encompass the entire church parking lot, showcasing nearly 60 vendors, which is about 25% larger than in past years. Weekly live music will enhance your shopping experience.
In light of Gov. Phil Murphy's recent executive order, CDC guidelines and input from the Atlantic County Health Department regarding outdoor events, masks will be optional for market-goers as the season commences. For those choosing to wear a mask, vendors have been asked to respectfully put their masks on when customers approach.
Regarding physical distancing, market managers Penni and Andy Starer and Maria Gatta ask that you recognize those around you and respect everyone's wishes without judgment.
According to the market managers, like last year, there will be one-way in and one-way out.
It's an opportunity for our friendly volunteers to greet you, answer any questions, and count the number of people who pass through our market each week, they said in a release. This year's goal is to make Ventnor City Farmers Market your happy place on Friday mornings&where you can support local farmers, food artisans, and handcrafters and be part of our safe and wonderful community.
