MAYS LANDING The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Officer observed National Navy Day, Oct. 27, with a salute all of military personnel who have served in the United States Navy.
The service and sacrifice that is carried out by ACPO detectives, prosecutors and staff members who also serve in our country's military branches represents the epitome of a commitment to public service, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill said. On National Navy Day, I give my honor and gratitude to ACPO Det. Carlos Collado and Det. Christopher Southard who both serve Atlantic County and our country in the U.S. Navy.
Collado currently serves in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a petty officer 2nd class and previously served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve for nearly 10 years. He also has served as a patrol officer in the Pleasantville Police Department and a parole officer for the NJ State Parole Board.
Southard enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1998 and served through 2004. After his Naval service, he moved on to the U.S. Marine Corps where he currently serves as a lieutenant colonel.
As the chief of county detectives, I would like to take a moment to applaud and thank Detectives Collado and Southard for their service in the U.S. Navy, defending our great nation and also for their commitment to serving our county's residents at the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, Atlantic County Chief of County Detectives Bruce K. DeShields said. ACPO appreciates the military service and sacrifices of so many of our agency's staff members who serve county and country.
