GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University will host a Zoom book launch 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 for the book, Love With No Tomorrow: Tales of Romance During the Holocaust by Mindelle Pierce.
Pierce is the daughter of the Jack and Rose Najman who lived in Margate and were Holocaust survivors from Eastern Europe. An Atlantic County resident, Pierce is a member of the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center Executive Committee at Stockton University.
The book features the love stories of 27 couples who met before or during the Holocaust and whose love helped them survive to tell their stories. The book includes several area couples, including the Najmans, Ernest and Sara Paul of Atlantic City, and Daniel and Lucyna Berkowicz of Vineland. It also includes two couples with ties to Stockton's Holocaust Center, Jack and Ina Soep Pollack and Joseph and Rebecca Bau.
Dr. Michael Berenbaum, who wrote the foreword for the book, will lead the discussion. He is a former Ida E. King Distinguished Visiting Professor of Holocaust Studies at Stockton and an internationally renowned scholar of the Holocaust, author, and educator.
