Depsite the rain, the MBA Rubber Ducky Derby was held in Margate, Aug. 29, 2021
The Margate Business Association will hold its annual Duck Derby and raffle Sunday, Aug. 14 (raindate Aug. 21)* with the weighted rubber ducks departing from Ray Scott's Dock on Amherst Avenue.
Activities will begin at 11 a.m. along the Margate City Municipal Pier on Washington and Amherst avenues, with the derby beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m. Guests can watch the ducks race to the finish line from the pier.
Children will be able to try their luck in the Duck Chuck, Quack in the Hole, Fishin' for Fowl games and other fun activities. Prizes will be awarded.
USA DJ will provide musical entertainment and play the Chicken Dance for guests to participate; the best chicken (yeah we know it's a duck derby but it's close) dancer will wins a prize. 95.1 WAYV will be on hand with their DJ for a Day tent where children and adults can put their best foot forward trying their hand at being a DJ.
To participate in the quack-a-palooza, adults 21 and older can purchase raffle tickest at Ray Scott's Dock, at Thrilling Thursdays' Movies on the Beach, Margate Community Farmers Market, and from Wendy at Bocca Coal Fired Bistro Tuesday and Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Ticket sales will end on Thursday evening; no tickets will be sold at the event.
The number on the weighted duck corresponds to the number on the purchaser's raffle ticket. The first three ducks to enter the finish area win prizes - Visa pre-paid gift cards valued at $1,000 for first prize, $500 second prize and $250 third prize.
The ducks will be dumped into the bay between Ray Scott's Dock and the Washington Avenue pier with kayakers and boaters guiding the ducks to make sure no duck escapes. The rubber ducks will be scooped out by the kayakers at the end of the derby course.
