MARGATE Police here held their annual Law Day event Wednesday, Aug. 10 to share information beneficial to the community. Members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, including newly appointed Prosecutor William E. Reynolds and First Assistant Prosecutor Erik M. Bergman, attended the event.
Police Chief Matthew Hankinson mingled with the crowd gathered under the tent in the park at the Margate City Library. Police informed new parents about a program that ensures their child safety seats are properly installed. All a parent has to do is call Ptl. Timothy Flanigan at 609-822-1151 to request assistance with installation.

Officers offered new bicycle helmets to children and helped them with proper fitting, and distributed school supplies such as pens and rulers. Children were encouraged to get their bicycles registered with the Police Department to ensure its return if it is lost or stolen.
The Humane Society of Atlantic County attended the event to inform pet parents about getting their pups chipped. The organization provided Margate Police with a chip reader, which facilitates a quick return if a pet loses his or her parents.
Some of the most popular vendors were the face painting table and the Italian water ice station, which offered various flavors of the cold, sweet treat.
