Ventnor Twilight Holiday Parade beats the rain

  • Downbeach

VENTNOR - The city's annual Twilight Holiday Parade stepped off without a hitch following a day of rainy weather. The rain ended around 3 p.m. just in time for the streets to dry up and welcome marching bands, Ventnor Pirates, bagpipers and floats by local businesses.

The route traveled north toward Atlantic City this year and activities were planned around the Ventnor Square Theater where a DJ announced all the units in the parade.

Elvis took the lead, with Mayor Beth Holtzman close behind, followed by state legislators Vince Polistina, Don Guardian and Claire Swift, and Commissioner Lance Landgraf and his wife Kathy and Commissioner Tim Kriebel and his wife Jennifer.

Each unit in the parade delighted the hundreds of spectators lining the route. After casting their gaze on several impersonators, children waited anixously for the real thing...Santa arriving aboard a Ventnor Beach Patrol surf boat.

Activities, including pony rides for the kiddos, were held around the theater, which many view as the jem of the North Beach section of the city.

The North Beach Residents Assocation brought their big red Cadillac, but did not give out their customary hugs as the flu season rages.

The parade, which spanned more than a mile, lasted for more than an hour to the delight of everyone out for a night of wholesome family fun in anticipation of the holiday season.
