Longport makes professional, board appointments

LONGPORT The Board of Commissioners Wednesday, Dec. 7 approved appointments for professionals who will serve the borough in 2023. Mayor Nicholas Russo also approved appointments to the Planning Board.

Patrick Armstrong will serve as a Class II member of the Planning Board representing the municipality. Richard Hirsch was appointed to a three-year term as a Class IV Alternate 1 and John Gligor as Alternate 2. Alternate board member Yale Steingard, will serve as a Class IV member in 2023, filling the unexpired term of former member Joel Goldman. Other members of the board include Russo and Commissioner Dan Lawer, who will serve for the length of their terms on the Borough Commission, Thomas McAllister, Joseph Marcasciano, Steven O'Leary, Leonard Geria and James Ulmer.

The board also approved Elizabeth Peterson-Ricci to serve the unexpired term of Damen Tomassi on the Longport Public Library Board of Trustees.

The board approved the following professional appointments:


  • Michael S. Affanato, solicitor $30,000

  • Pacifico Pat Agnellini, tax appeal attorney/alternate solicitor, $25,000

  • Carl Tripician, municipal prosecutor

  • James P. Swift, public defender, $5,600

  • Russell Lichtenstein, labor counsel, $7,500

  • Russell Lichtenstein, special labor counsel, $15,000

  • Samuel W. Holland, animal control officer, $475/mo.

  • Michael Garcia, Ford-Scott Associates, municipal auditor, $33,500

  • Phoenix Advisors, LLC, disclosure agent, $1,600


Additional appointment will be approved in January.
