Village by the Shore helps adults over 50 ring in the new year

MARGATE Adults over 50 can start the new year with 11 unique, interactive and entertaining virtual and in-person programs offered through The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore at Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties.

Nurse's Roundtable: Beating the Winter Blues, Wednesday, Jan. 4, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Join Nurse Educator Lori Pasahow and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota to share self-care tips for getting through the shorter, darker, colder days of winter before the lovely early morning sounds of the songbirds return in March. RSVP by Jan. 2.

Positivity Project: Morning Refresh, Thursday, Jan. 5, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Start your day in an upbeat way. Explore positivity with JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota. You'll learn ways to boost wellness mind, body and soul. Topics include self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, and resiliency. RSVP by Jan. 3.

The Village Film Society, Tuesday, Jan. 10, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a discussion about the movie, Colette, starring Keira Knightly as author Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, who moves to Paris after agreeing to ghostwrite a semi-autobiographical novel for her husband. The book's success inspires her to fight for creative ownership and overcome the societal constraints of the early 20th century. This movie can be viewed on Netflix. RSVP by Jan. 5.

BINGO, Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1-2 p.m.

Join friends and neighbors for an afternoon of BINGO games and prizes with Tina Serota.  BINGO cards will be delivered to those who register in advance. This event is free for Holocaust survivors and Village members. For non-members, the cost is $5 payable prior to Jan. 9 to Tina Serota.

Memoir Workshop: Hybrid, Friday, Jan. 13, 10:30 a.m. to noon

Experience the thrill of capturing your life's adventures, history, and ancestry at the Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Professor of Creative Writing, Harriet Levin Millan. Learn about publishing your work. You'll need a laptop or pen/paper for the workshop. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC, 501 N. Jerome Ave. or via Zoom. RSVP by Jan. 10.

Comfort Cooking Healthy & Delicious: Winter Warmth, Tuesday, Jan. 17, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Lunch Around Town, Friday, Jan. 20, 12-1:30 p.m.

Evening Yoga with Candice, Monday, Jan. 23, 7-8 p.m.
