5th Annual Holocaust seminar for educators to be held online this year

Holocaust survivor Betty Grebenschikoff will be featured during this year's educator seminar.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University will hold its fifth annual Wally and Lutz Hammerschlag Summer Educator Seminar with Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, via Zoom from Jerusalem, Israel, 9 a.m. to noon, July 26-28.

The theme of the free educator workshop is The Human Spirit: Learning about Rescue, Resistance, and Faith during WWII and the Holocaust.

The goal of the seminar is to teach about the history of the Holocaust by using the theme of the human spirit and to learn about the past to make a better future for all. Strategies for educators and resources will be shared.

The seminar will be online via Zoom by pre-registration only. The cost is free and open to all teachers of grades 4 through 12 and college. Participants can register for one, two or all three days. New Jersey Professional Development Hours will be earned by participants.

  • Visas to Shanghai: The Story of Feng-Shan Ho Robert Bob' Holden, retired educator;

  • Art as Resistance During the Holocaust Liz Elsby, Yad Vashem Museum Guide & Educator;

  • Liberation and Return to Life - Sheryl Ochayon, director Echoes & Reflections Project & International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem;

  • They Fought Back: Armed and Spiritual Resistance During the Holocaust   Lori Gerson, International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem and

  • Teaching the Holocaust Through Film Animation Yoni Berrous, International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem
