Ventnor's 50th annual 1-Mile Run includes entertainment, fireworks

VENTNOR The city will hold its 50th annual 1-Mile Run 7 p.m. Sunday, July 3 on the Ventnor boardwalk, starting at New Haven Avenue.

The event will include a post-race awards ceremony, a Popsicle Eating Contest Sponsored by SunDaze ice cream, and a special musical appearance by the U.S. Air Force Band Full Spectrum, a high-energy group that encourages recruitment and builds morale among the troops by offering free rock concerts playing favorite hits.

Based out of Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia, most of their performances are in the northeast U.S. but they also deploy for conflict zones around the world. Ricky Stevens is the opening act starting at 6 p.m. A fireworks display will be held at 9:30 p.m.

Pre-registration is $15 for adults, $10 for children under 11 before June 19; $20/15 after June 20. Registration closes 3 p.m. on July 3.
