Rock & Roll Race Series this weekend in Atlantic City and surrounds.
ATLANTIC CITY - The Rock & Roll Race Series being held this weekend in Atlantic City will impact motorists traveling in the Atlantic City and Ventnor areas.
A 5K race will be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14 starting at Bader Field and finishing on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. On Sunday, it will be the Rock & Roll Half Marathon.
A Fitness Expo, free and open to the public, will be held at Atlantic City Convention Center 12-7 p.m. Friday, May 13, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, offering the latest in running technology, apparel, health and nutrition.
The northbound side of Black Horse Pike/N. Albany Avenue will be closed from Filbert Avenue to the Boardwalk 7-8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The southbound and northbound sides of Black Horse Pike will be closed from S. Franklin Boulevard to West End Avenue 6:30-10:30 a.m. on Sunday, as will West End Avenue from Albany to Trenton Avenue. The off ramp from the Atlantic City Expressway will close at 5 a.m. on Sunday.
Motorists are advised to be prepared for delays, be alert for the runners, and seek alternate routes.
In Ventnor, bicycles will no be permitted on the boardwalk and there will be no beach block access between 7 a.m. and noon.
Also, there will be no parking on the ocean side of Atlantic Avenue from Jackson to Fredericksburg Avenue. Any cars parked will be ticketed and towed. Residents on the beach blocks from Jackson to Fredericksburg Avenue are asked to move their vehicles to the bay side of Atlantic Avenue if you need to access your vehicle during the event.
It is highly recommended to minimize travel during this event since all directions of travel will be blocked off and/or detoured in Atlantic City and Ventnor. You will be able to leave the island via Margate or Longport.
