Longport Beach Patrol
The Longport Beach Patrol will be hosting tryouts for all prospective lifeguards 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10.
Applications can be downloaded from the borough website and are due by June 4. Candidates will be required to provide a statement of health from a physician and sign a waiver holding the borough harmless. Applications can be dropped off to Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave. during the week or directly to Longport Beach Patrol Headquarters, 33rd Avenue at the beach on weekends starting Memorial Day weekend.

A mandatory meeting will be held 5 p.m. Friday, June 9 in the Community Room at Beach Patrol Headquarters. Failure to attend the mandatory meeting will result in being pulled from the tryouts.
The lifeguard test includes a 1-mile run in under 7 minutes, 30 seconds; quarter-mile box swim, quarter-mile row, 200-meter paddle, and a run, swim, run of 100 meters each. Anyone who cannot finish the 1-mile run in under 7:30 will not be permitted to move onto the next test.
An alphabetical list of successful candidates will be posed by Monday, June 12, and will be contacted throughout the week if they have been selected for hire. At that point, the interview process will begin. Those hired will be required to take a drug test, anyone over age 18 will be required to submit background check and be fingerprinted before starting work. Anyone under age 18 is required to submit working papers.
