VENTNOR - The city has announced it has instructed the Police Department to suspend enforcement at parking meters throughout the holidays. At its meeting Dec. 21, the Board of Commissioners approved a resolution that extends the suspension for certain parking meters through March 31, 2024.

According to City Administrator Tom Ciccarone, meters in all commercial districts will be free until March 31.

In other business, the board approved the appointment of Ciccarone as the city's official administrator starting Jan. 1, 2023. Ciccarione previously served as acting city administrator under a professional services contract with Jersey Professional Management. He was appointed to the post following the resignation of Maria Mento who also served under a professional services contract since 2015. Mento resigned to fill the seat on the commission vacated when former Mayor Beth Holtzman resigned and moved out of Ventnor.

"Tom has been great with my transition from commissioner to mayor, and with Maria moving up to the dias, he has straightened us out," Mayor Lance Landgraf said.

Commissioner Tim Kriebel also said it has been a pleasure working with Ciccarone.

"It's like getting a twofer," he said.

Ciccarone will continue to work on a part-time basis - 24 hours a week - but will be on call 24-7. His annual salary is $120,000 with no benefits. He will receive 15 vacation days with no carry over privileges, and nine sick days, which can be accumulated for future use, but with no payout upon end of service.
