VENTNOR - Stockton University faculty explore topics such as Jews in film and women and Jewish law in an ongoing lecture series hosted by Shirat Hayam Synagogue in Ventnor, 700 N Swarthmore Ave.
All lectures are free, open to the public, and begin at 7:30 p.m. Question and answer sessions will follow.
The series continues with the following presentations:
- March 11 Steven Marcus, adjunct instructor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies, will discuss Jews in Film. He will examine the contributions of Jews to American film, a topic he explores in greater detail during his semester-long class at Stockton.
- April 15 Marcia Fiedler, assistant professor of Jewish Studies at Stockton, will speak on Women and Jewish Law.
This is the 25
th year Stockton and Shirat Hayam have partnered to bring educational lectures to the community. A brief Havdalah service, which separates the Jewish sabbath from the rest of the week, will follow each lecture.
