Longport Police Chief Frank Culmone has been accepted to attend the 286th session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy April 3 to June 8, according to a release posted on the borough's website.
He is the first Longport police officer to attend the prestigious program, which is dedicated to providing the highest degree of law enforcement expertise, leadership training, and information to law enforcement executives around the world.
During the 10-week training program held in Quantico, Virginia, Culmone will receive training in communication, leadership and fitness, and network with other law enforcement officers from the United States and around the world. Participants must have proven records and many of the officers accepted into the program exceed 21 years of law enforcement experience and serve in executive level positions.
Internationally recognized FBI Academy instructors, special agents, and other staff with advanced degrees provide the training.
In addition to undergraduate and graduate level college courses offered in areas such as law, behavioral and forensic science, understanding terrorism and terrorists, and leadership development, students forge lasting connections that strengthen global law enforcement partnerships.
Since 1935, more than 53,000 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy.
