Steven Gough, MSW, LSW
SOMERS POINT - Shore Medical Center has announced that social worker Steven Gough, MSW, LSW of North Wildwood has been named its July Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional care to its patients. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Gough began his career at Shore Medical Center in July 2021. He serves as the social worker for the 5 Hayes Unit, where he plans patient discharges and coordinates any services they may need after they leave the hospital, ensuring a smooth continuation of care.
Christine Bracey, administrative director of Care Management, said Gough advocates for the patients Shore cares for each day.
Steven cares about his patients and assists with meeting their personal goals and needs. He spends time with his patients and collaborates on their care with his co-workers and peers. As a United States Air Force Veteran, Steven takes special pride in his work caring for veterans, Bracey said.
A family member of a Shore patient recently made a Guardian Angel donation to the medical center in Gough's honor, and had this to say about him:
My family is so grateful for the loving care, kindness and attention that was given to our 92-year-old mother who spent 17 days on the 5 Hayes Unit. Steven, my mother's social worker, gave her and our family great support during her stay. He always made himself available and was reliable to provide information and guidance through some tough decisions. Thank you, Steven.
Shore Medical Center's Guardian Angel program provides an opportunity for patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore's annual pinning ceremony.
