VENTNOR The city will celebrate the 40th year of National Night Out starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the beachfront park on Newport Avenue.
The event promotes public safety and community partnerships. The Ventnor City Police and Fire departments, the Municipal Alliance and Ventnor Special Events are hosting the event. Residents are encouraged to turn off the TV, unplug devices and leave their troubles behind for a fun-filled evening of family, friends and neighbors.
The event, which is celebrated in communities across the country, is designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit, build partnerships with public safety officials, and help children feel safe all year long.
Activities include interactive children's games, inflatables, and public safety vehicle displays. A DJ will spin the hits from 5-6 p.m. followed by two bands Plaid Salmon plays 6-7 p.m. and The Exceptions rounds out the night 7-10 p.m.
Food trucks will be on site offering the best street foods available. A free food distribution will be available for the first 200 people. Tickets are available at the Ventnor Special Events tent.
