EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - Seashore Gardens Foundation is hosting a class in ikebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement at its seventh annual golf tournament being held Wednesday, June 21 at Harbor Pines Golf Club, 500 St. Andrews Drive
Nongolfers are invited to participate in the event to benefit the nonprofit foundation dedicated to enriching elder lives.
More than simply putting flowers in a vase, ikebana is a disciplined art form in which nature and human creativity are brought together. It uses the flowers, the container, and the space around the flower arrangement as part of the artistic expression. The class will be led by a horticultural therapist.
Participants will enjoy appetizers and a signature cocktail as they create a beautiful floral design that they can take home. The class is $50 and includes refreshments and all materials. For those who wish to take the class and attend the golf tournament awards dinner, the combined cost is $100.
Proceeds will help to maintain the Horticultural Therapy program for the residents of Seashore Gardens Living Center.
