There is an effort under way to save six dolphins stranded on the beach at 52nd street in Sea Isle City.
Two other dolphins washed up near 51st Street and are believed dead, authorities said Tuesday.
Police, fire and Public Works crews are trying to save the dolphins by pouring sea water on them using hoses and buckets.

The dolphins appear helpless, other than being able to lift their heads and move their tails.
They are covered with sheets to keep their skins moist, authorities said.
Officials from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center are responding to the scene to see whether the dolphins can be saved.
This is a developing story.
