MARGATE - According to Independantwestand.org, Few things embody the American Dream quite like mom and pop businesses.

That's why the Friends of Margate 2023 team will not only be celebrating National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day, but also saluting those that have been in the Margate City community for generations.

The public is invited to come meet non-partisan candidates Maury Blumberg, Cathy Horn and Michael Collins as they show their support for small businesses, 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 29 at Casel's Marketplace, 8008 Ventnor Ave.

Without a doubt, independently owned businesses and family owned businesses represent the building blocks of our local economy in Margate City, said Collins, who owns Colmar Home Center and the UPS Store and is a trustee of the Margate Business Association.

We know firsthand how they create jobs, reinvest in our communities and support local initiatives. We are thrilled to salute ALL of our wonderful family-owned restaurants, services and retail stores as well as Casel's Marketplace on National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day, said Maury Blumberg, who has been a commissioner since 2007. He owns and operates Jersey Architectural Door and Supply in Atlantic City. School board President Cathy Horn will also be available to chat with residents about the team's perspective on issues facing Margate.
