GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus has earned an A Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.  Leapfrog assigns grades of A-F to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

Excellence is in the DNA of AtlantiCare, AtlantiCare President and CEO Michael J. Charlton said in a release. Measurement tools like Leapfrog provide us with important benchmarking data that highlights opportunities for us to fine-tune the care our patients expect from us and rely on. We are committed to our promise to keep our patients safe from preventable harm and maintaining a culture that continues to raise the bar for care.

Earning an A' grade means AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center made a true commitment to put patients first, said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. We congratulate the leadership, board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.

AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland campus is one of two hospitals in the AtlantiCare system of care. AtlantiCare's Atlantic City campus also received a highly favorable B rating. Both of these high scores were received based on data from October 2021 through September 2022, a period that was significantly impacted by spikes in COVID, staffing challenges and fluctuating visitation restrictions.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that lead to more than 500 deaths a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
