Gail Rosenthal

A giant in leadership among academia and the Jewish community, Gail Rosenthal, 77, died Friday, Oct. 13 at Atlantic City Medical Center following a medical emergency earlier this month.


Rosenthal was the director of Stockton University's internationally recognized Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center, bringing Holocaust education to the students and community for more than 30 years.


She helped to create the curriculum that offers students minor and advanced degrees in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Rosenthal established an archive of oral recollections Holocaust survivors and raised funds to support the center and provide scholarships for students. An exhibit room at the university bears her name.


A service will be held 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15 at Beth El Syagogue, 500 N. Jerome Ave. Services will be live streamed at https://www.shiva.com/gailrosenthal Obituary will follow.
