Atlantic County Veterans Museum open for Veterans Day

Atlantic County Veterans Museum, Rt. 50, Estell Manor.

ESTELL MANOR - In honor of all veterans, the Atlantic County Veterans Museum,  189 Route 50 South, will be open to visitors 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 9-10, and on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11.

The museum features artifacts and the histories of many Atlantic County veterans, highlighting wars and conflicts from the Revolutionary War through modern day. Many of the artifacts were donated by local veterans and/or their family.

The building is the former home of Rebecca Estell Bourgeois Winston, the first mayor of Estell Manor and the first female mayor in New Jersey. It was built in 1832 by Winston's grandfather and remodeled in the 1920s to Colonial Revival style.

Atlantic County purchased the house in 1993 and rehabilitated it to provide a museum to serve as a tribute to our local veterans and honor their contributions to our nation's history. The museum officially opened in June 2017.

The entrance is a quarter-mile south of Estell Manor Park and the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery on Route 50. Admission is free and every visitor receives a self-guided tour booklet.

To learn more about the museum or to schedule a group tour, please call 609-909-7305.
