Longport mayor asks residents to volunteer for government service

By NANETTE LoBIONDO GALLOWAY

LONGPORT Mayor Nicholas Russo has issued a request for residents to serve on volunteer municipal boards.

Anyone interested in serving on the Longport Public Library Board of Trustees, Planning and Zoning Board, Sustainable Longport green team, or the Hazard Mitigation Committee is encouraged to contact the borough administrator. Russo said residents are being asked to fill vacancies that may arise.

I have heard from several residents that they are interested in serving on volunteer boards. For those of you who have expressed interest and for others, too, please let me know if you wish to serve. We may have some openings coming up on our library's Board of Trustees, Russo said in a release.

Those interested in serving are asked to send contact information and a statement on why you would like to serve to Administrator A. Scott Porter at [email protected].

Requests will be considered as vacancies arise.
