GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University will commemorate Yom HaShoah in May with a program titled Unto Every Person There is a Name Remembering the 6 million Jewish victims of the Shoah.

The free service program will be held in person at Congregation Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, in Northfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6.

The evening will feature a keynote by Holocaust survivor Mike Kleidermacher. For the first time publicly in New Jersey, he will detail his family's experiences surviving the Holocaust and immigrating to Bolivia in 1947, which stands out as a rare haven for Jews during and after the Shoah. Jews were offered crucial passage away from Nazi persecution by the government in Bolivia, thanks largely to the efforts of Moritz Hochschild, a German-Jewish businessman in the mining industry.

The free, community-wide commemoration will highlight Holocaust survivors in southern New Jersey and will include a memorial service. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
