Margate City to welcome the Budweiser Clydesdales Thursday afternoon

  • Community
MARGATE - The Budweiser Clydesdale team is scheduled to arrive on S. Cedar Grove Avenue at 2 p.m Thursday, Aug. 15 and will begin hitching the horses up.  The public is welcome to attend and watch. The Margate City Police Department will have the roadway shut down, as noted by the red line in the photo above, so the public can get a close up look at these iconic animals.
There will be barricades in place that will allow everybody to get a great look, but there will be no opportunity to pet or touch the horses during the event. Doing so is strictly prohibited.
The public is welcome to stand along the tour route outlined below.  Margate police officers will be closing and opening the roads while the Clydesdales are traveling so please do not stand in the roadway prior to officers shutting it down.
Around 3PM, once the horse team is ready to go, they will head down Atlantic Avenue and stop for a photo opportunity and presentation by our own well known icon, Lucy the Elephant. (1)
The team will then head up Washington Ave for a stop in front of Historic City Hall for another photo opportunity. (2)
After that, the Clydesdales will move to Ventnor Ave and stop in front of the Margate City Fire Department for photos. (3)
They will continue down Ventnor Avenue with a brief pause at Benson Avenue for a photo with our Lucy the Elephant water tower in the background. (4)
They will then turn back onto Cedar Grove Avenue and the public is welcome to watch as the horses are loaded up for their next journey.
There will be extensive parking restrictions posted along the parade route. We have allowed for several handicap parking spaces along the beach block of Cedar Grove Avenue for those heading to the area to watch.
While the event is ongoing we ask the public to follow all directions given by event personnel and MCPD officers.  We are looking forward to a safe and fun event!
A big thanks is due to the Margate Business Association for being an excellent partner, and coordinating this, and many other, outstanding community events.
