Margate’s Log Cabin awards college scholarships

MARGATE - The Margate Log Cabin Scholarship Fund continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of local youth by awarding college scholarships to children of Log Cabin members.

Back in 2021, the EBoard, under the leadership of Dan Walsh and member volunteers, raised $24,990 through the auction of five exclusive Log Cabin memberships. The effort laid the foundation for a scholarship fund dedicated to assisting the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of Log Cabin members. Thanks to ongoing fundraising efforts and additional donations, the fund has grown significantly, enabling the Log Cabin to award $1,000 scholarships to deserving students pursuing higher education.

At the recent monthly members' meeting, five outstanding students were honored as the 2024 scholarship recipients. The presentation was a highlight of the meeting, with each student recognized for their achievements and potential.  Following the ceremony, checks were sent directly to their respective colleges to support their educational endeavors.

This year’s scholarship recipients are: 

• Mattea Dieckmann, The Catholic University of America 
• James Walsh, University of Delaware
• Hannah Lloyd, Saint Joesph’s University 
• Joseph Russo, University of Florida
• Kelsea Cooke, Duquesne University

The Log Cabin’s Scholarship Fund remains a testament to the shared commitment of fostering the future leaders of tomorrow.
