Service canine provider allegedly bilked Galloway woman out of $20K

  • Crime-Courts

A West Virginia woman is accused of stealing $20,000 from a Galloway Township resident seeking a service dog.

The victim told police that she paid Causey Labradors and Training LLC based in West Virginia over a two-year span, but never received a dog.

An investigation by Galloway Township police led to Catherine Causey 52 of Kearneysville, W.V.

Causey was arrested Tuesday, and charged with theft by deception and money laundering. She is currently in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a first appearance.

A message left with the company was not immediately returned.

Galloway police encouraged the community to report any incidents of fraud or deception. Residents also are warned to use caution when making online purchases, and be sure to document all financial transactions.

Anyone who feels they have been a victim, call police at 609-652-3705.
