Addmotor has pulled no punches with this one. There’s no sugarcoating it: the LANDTAN doesn’t have all the luxuries of the GRANDTANs or GREATTANs. 


That said, it’s got a few things going for it, things that can knock out all those heavy hitters right out of the park. 

Value for Money

What’s so exciting about the LANDTAN? Well for starters, it’s the high price-to-performance ratio. Addmotor has stripped out all unnecessary features from the LANDTAN, dropping its price to less than $2,000 for early bird sale.


But this sudden price drop doesn’t mean that the Addmotor has cut any corners with this 3-wheel electric bike. The LANDTAN comes with similar specs to other high-end models. 


For instance, it has the same 750W rear-mounted motor along with a rear-speed differential and parking brake. 


As you can see, the LANDTAN is the most functional yet streamlined electric trike bike. It’s great for tinkerers and budget-conscious riders who want to start small and work their way up. But only, if they’re comfortable doing so. 

Off Road Capabilities

Cargo racks, footboards, and other unnecessary junk aren’t in the way of the Addmotor LANDTAN e-tricycle. Thanks to this, the LANDTAN has better performance specs in the offroading department. 


So if you’re looking for a durable and rugged electric tricycle for intense offroading, the LANDTAN should be on top of your shopping list. It’s low-maintenance, affordable, and has enough power to pull you out of a sticky situation. 

4-Inch Fat Tires

Plus, it’s got 4” fat tires that are all-terrain ready. These tires can handle anything from sandy beaches and rocky foothills to snowy fields with the same level of stability as well-paved roads.


Fat tires are perfect for 3-wheel electric bikes and offroading. This is because fat tires have low tire pressures and spread out their weight more evenly across surfaces. This means you have more traction and less chance of sinking into loose terrain and getting stuck.

Addmotor has taken some liberties with re-designing the battery pack. Unlike the regular 48V/20Ah battery pack, this new design is a more stealthy design and blends in flawlessly with the rear section of the trike frame. 


So this new 48V/15Ah battery pack has more of a briefcase design. Unlike the previous version – which was a dead giveaway – the LANDTAN neatly tucks this battery pack under the rear rack. This makes it less noticeable and prevents it from getting in the way of the rider. 


The new briefcase design battery pack optimizes space more efficiently. It has the rear light setup integrated into it, making everything look neat and modular. 


Also, despite the lower capacity, this new battery pack is no slouch. For the LANDTAN, it can provide up to 65+ miles of range on a full charge (at PAS level 1).


This mileage is on par with high-end models like the GRANDTAN or ARISETAN. This is reason enough to demonstrate the efficiency of the LANDTAN and its stealth battery pack. 

Ergonomics

Sure enough, the LANDTAN fat tire electric trike is not for everyone. Ironically, anyone can easily pick up and ride the LANDTAN E-Trike without much of a learning curve.


This is thanks to its no-nonsense, streamlined setup, allowing the LANDTAN to cover all its bases. Anyone from frail seniors to Olympic athletes can hop on the LANDTAN and start riding immediately. 


One of the features that enhances this accessibility is the step-through frame. The LANDTAN might not have an adjustable backrest or wooden footboard. However, it more than makes up for it with a step-through frame and a low standover height. 

Ease of Use and Rider Accessibility


The stand-over height on the LANDTAN is about 15.6” with a handlebar reach of 13.4” and it’s recommended for riders between 5 '1”-5' 9”. 


So it’s not the best for taller riders but perfect for average adults. Also, it has a relatively low standover height and arm reach, making it particularly suitable for short female riders. 


Additionally, the LANDTAN is surprisingly light. At 88.2 lbs, it’s lightweight compared to other eTrikes with the same performance specs. 


So with some help, you can easily carry it up a flight of stairs. You can also load it up into the back of a truck or SUV without too much effort. 

Ideal Use Cases and Rider Personalities For the LANDTAN


The LANDTAN E-Trike has a unique niche. On the surface, it seems as accessible as the GRANDTAN but when you dig deeper, you can see that it caters to tinkerers and adventurous individuals.

Drawbacks of the Addmotor LANDTAN eTrike

Despite Addmotor’s best intentions, the LANDTAN fat tire electric trike does fall short in certain aspects. It’s not perfect and may not provide the best experience for everybody.


If you’re seriously considering a LANDTAN e-trike, be sure to note down these points and make a more informed decision: 


  • Lack of Proper Storage Compartments: While the LANDTAN has a 300-lb payload capacity, it doesn’t come with storage racks right out of the box. You’ll need to purchase and install these separately or customize them post-purchase. 

  • Not the Most Comfortable: Unlike Addmotor’s flagship models, the LANDTAN lacks an adjustable backrest or wooden footboard. This makes it somewhat less comfortable.

  • Limited Battery Range: Addmotor currently doesn’t offer extra batteries for the LANDTAN. So with this new battery pack, you’re stuck with it until you can recharge it.

  • No Fenders Included: Despite its excellent offroading capabilities, the LANDTAN doesn’t come with fenders. You’ll have to purchase and install these separately. 

  • Not Full Suspension: With only a front fork Addshox suspension, the LANDTAN can struggle to absorb impacts and vibrations. This can be an issue when off roading or rolling through uneven terrain.

The Addmotor LANDTAN electric tricycle offers good value for money. It’s a budget-friendly fat tire e-trike suitable for beginners and veterans. 


It’s got several impressive features. These include the offroading potential with the 4” fat tires and 65+ miles of range thanks to an efficient battery. 


However, the LANDTAN sacrifices many comfort and luxuries to keep costs down. As such, the LANDTAN isn’t the most accessible or versatile electric trike available. 


So it’s not great for seniors or people looking to maximize comfort. Instead, it’s better for students, commuters, and anybody who wants to start affordably and keep improving as they go along.
