4th Annual Bark in the Park to be held at Atlantic County Fairgrounds

  • Atlantic County

MAYS LANDING – The fourth annual “Bark in the Park” event will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Atlantic County Fairgrounds on Route 50.

The largest dog-friendly event in South Jersey is hosted by Absecon Veterinary Hospital & Emergency to raise funds for Laddie's Legacy, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping pet parents with vet bill assistance. Last year’s event raised $17,000 to help save pets’ lives.

Bark in the Park will feature local vendors, food trucks, beer garden with craft beer from Dr. Brewlittles Beer Company, ax throwing, dog show, petting zoo, demonstrations, dog nose painting, raffle baskets and a ton of dog friendly games and activities.

“We’re not talking about games like cornhole or ladders where your dog just sits next you, looking cute; we mean games and activities that include your dog,” Laddie’s Legacy Executive Cherie Scheurich said. “Dog vs. Human pie eating contest, musical sit, a fun treasure hunt for treats, and more will be available for your pups to play.”

Admission is $7 and children under 12 and well-behaved dogs are free. Tickets can be purchased online through EventBrite or at the door. Dogs must be people, kid, and other dog friendly and up to date on vaccines. Dogs also must be on non-retractable leashes.

For an additional fee, a “Future Vet Workshop” for children ages 6-11 and teens ages 12-16 will focus on horses and will be taught by the staff from Absecon Veterinary Hospital. Each student will receive a learning packet with flash cards to help prepare them for their workshop.

For sponsorships, vendor applications or more information about the event, contact Cherie Scheurich at 609-646-7013, ext. 127 or [email protected]. Progressive 50/50 tickets will be on sale soon.
