Polar bears to brave the cold Atlantic on New Year's Day

  • Jersey Shore

Some do it just for fun, others to raise money for a good cause, but regardless of motivation, braving the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean is a customary way to ring in the New Year at the shore.

Many year-round residents are joined by holiday visitors to take a dip in the ocean. This year, the timing is perfect to do it again and again. Polar bears can plunge on the hour starting at noon on New Year's Day, with the final plunge at 2 p.m. in Ocean City.
