JFS received funding to help prevent homelessness.

MARGATE - The Hearst Foundations pledged its support for Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties by awarding the organization a $100,000 grant. The funds will fund the agency's Atlantic Homeless Alliance program, which works cohesively with individuals and families who may be homeless or experiencing housing instability.

JFS is thankful to receive the significant grant from The Heart Foundations as the agency strives to end homelessness by increasing access to stable housing in the region, JFS CEO Andrea Steinberg said. The AHA helps to lead the Atlantic County Continuum of Care, which integrates public and private service providers across the county to work together to secure safe and affordable housing for people in need.

In 2023, JFS helped 980 households avoid homelessness through eviction prevention, strength-based diversion services and temporary direct relief, and helped 57 individuals gain temporary or permanent housing. In addition, the agency connected 553 clients to additional services, including healthcare, addiction treatment and public benefits, offering a holistic approach to advance longterm housing stability.

The Hearst Foundations are proud to partner with Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties to provide shelter and transitional housing programs that enhance quality of life for those experiencing homelessness. We look forward to continuing to support the tremendous impact that JFS has on the community it serves," said Kevin Broadie, program officer at The Hearst Foundations.
