The Arc to host hiring event for individuals with developmental disabilities

  • Atlantic County

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - The Arc of Atlantic County will host a targeted hiring event for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at The Arc of Atlantic County, 6550 Delilah Road, Suite 101.

Following last year's successful job fair, the event will again bring together Atlantic County employers with individuals seeking full- and part-time positions. Applicants will be able to explore career opportunities, access community resources, and participate in on-site interviews.

Last year, we had more than 20 employers and 75 job seekers attend the hiring event, The Arc COO Pat Jones said. People were appreciative of the opportunity to meet with employers and talk about job opportunities. One applicant even said, Thank you so much. I prayed for this. They don't usually have job fairs for people with disabilities.'

Individuals with disabilities are willing and eager to work, and adding this population to the workforce can provide valuable benefits, including insights into how to serve customers with disabilities; high retention rates and productivity; improvements to company morale and overall culture; and federal and state tax deductions and financial incentives.

Businesses and resource groups interested in attending this event must pre-register before March 1. There is no cost to participate, and lunch will be provided to all employer representatives. Job seekers are encouraged to pre-register for the hiring event, but same day registration will also be available.
