'Lady Bugs' by Sheila McDonald
VENTNOR - South Jersey Players presents Dinner Theater at Aroma Restaurant, 5206 Atlantic Ave., 6 p.m. Tuesday evenings March 12, 19, 26, and April 2 and 9.
Enjoy a three-course plated dinner and BYOB in Aroma's newly renovated space, followed by five new original one-act plays. Dinner selections are chicken Marsala or pasta primavera, served with Caesar salad and cannoli for dessert.
'In a New Jersey MInute' by Edward Shakespeare
The Facts of Life, by Tom Chin, features a grandfather confronting his grandson about his sexual preferences; Forever, by Sondra Mandel, in which two bickering sisters decide to resolve their issues by planning to be buried in the same urn; Get a Job! by Jim O'Hara, where a grandfather encourages his somewhat lazy grandson to apply for a summer job stocking shelves in a market; and Ladybugs, by Sheila McDonald, in which Dana discovers a swarm of ladybugs in her deceased sister's oven. This convinces her that her sister, Lilly has sent her a sign. The final production, In a New Jersey Minute, by Edward Shakespeare, features parents pressuring their son Paul to concentrate on multiple tasks, while studying for the SAT. They believe this strategy will ensure him a spot in a prestigious high school.
'Forever' by Sondra Mandel
Actors include Edward Shakespeare, Jack Parrish, Shirley Belitsky, Leesa Toscano, Parker Smith, Dayle Friedman, Jamie Weinberg, Jared Migden, Shirlee DiBacco, Jim Erickson, Joseph Chialastri, Judy Parrish and Nick Efstatos.
Reid Alburger will provide dinner music on classical guitar. Jim Erickson is technical director and Scott Friedman is the host.
The dinner theater is being made possible with funding from the Atlantic County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, a partner agency of the NJ State Council on the Arts.
