Young ladies anxiously await Project Prom.
NORTHFIELD Project Prom, a non-profit initiative dedicated to empowering young ladies in Atlantic County, is gearing up for its annual pop-up shop event being held March 9-11 at Kensington Furniture, 200 Tilton Rd.
For a decade now, Project Prom has been a beacon of hope for local girls facing financial constraints by providing them with complimentary prom dresses, jewelry, shoes, and accessories.
It's more than just a dress - it's a symbol of empowerment and confidence," Co-founder and Chairwoman Rene Kane said.
The non-profit is seeking gently used prom dresses, especially large sizes, and accessories. They will be accepting donations through Feb. 24 at the following locations: Berkshire Hathaway, 9218 Ventnor Ave., Margate; JCC Margate, 501 N. Jerome Ave., Margate; and Esthetica, 1205 Tilton Rd., Northfield.
Project Prom is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City to showcase programming at the club that empowers young women and share resources to the teens who will be shopping for gowns. The ACBGC will be at the event with information on programs such as SMART Girls, which includes dynamic sessions, field trips, and mentoring to help girls build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships.
Project Prom is a great collaboration that affords girls in our community an opportunity to acquire a beautiful dress for Prom season, BGCAC CEO Dr. Charles A Wallace II said. We are grateful for the dedication and commitment of Rene and all the volunteers!
Project Prom is made possible through the support of the community, dedicated volunteers, and valuable partners. The Boys & Girls Club volunteers are instrumental in executing the event, while local radio station SOJO 104.9 adds rhythm and spirit with music and entertainment. Rene Kane & Company contributes essential promotional materials, and Kensington Furniture Store in Northfield graciously hosts the event, providing an elegant setting with 12 personalized fitting rooms.
Since 2014, Project Prom has made a significant impact on the lives of hundreds of girls, ensuring they have the opportunity to experience the magic of prom night.
