MAYS LANDING - Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections Maureen Budgdon is recognizing Help America Vote Day on Jan. 30 by putting a call out for election workers.
First identified by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission in 2022, Help America Vote Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of election workers and inspire more Americans to play a role in the electoral process. It also provides an opportunity to share election and voting information from trusted resources such as state and county election offices.
Election workers are an integral part of the election process. Serving the voters and registrants of Atlantic County is one of the most meaningful ways citizens can contribute to their communities, said Bugdon, who also serves as a member of the Local Leadership Council of the Election Assistance Commission. Help America Vote Day promotes greater civic engagement and volunteerism and helps to ensure safe, secure, accessible and transparent elections.
According to Bugdon, election workers are needed for primary and general elections to provide a positive and smooth voting experience for all. Specific duties and compensation can vary depending on the election office.
