At the Shore: Fireworks and shows sure to fire up your independence

  • Atlantic County
This holiday weekend is going to be a blast. For most of us, our weekend is going to start early this week. Let me start this round up by reminding you that Wednesday is not the day to work late. There’s going to be epic shore traffic. So, if your boss gives you the all clear in the early afternoon, make a run for it. Or, by all means, work from home if you can. Let’s tackle the big question first.

Where are the fireworks?

Ventnor

Fireworks will be at the Ventnor City Pier on hump day at 9:20 p.m. Fishermen be aware that there’s no fishing past the second gate on Wednesday, and the entire pier will be off limits at 8 p.m.

Margate

Sparking up the Independence Day sky, the fireworks display sponsored by the Margate Mothers Association starts at 9 p.m. Thursday. They will be shot off from the beach at Huntingdon Avenue, which will be closed for the pyrotechnic crew to set up. This is a show that you can see from the open Ventnor City Pier.

Atlantic City

Tropicana’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show is viewable from the Boardwalk at 10 p.m. Thursday. There’s plenty of parking in the casino’s garage. Also, free street parking can be obtained in the general area above Pacific Avenue.

Cape May

Hear the big booms at Congress Street Beach in Cape May at 9 p.m. on the Fourth. This display has a rain date - July 5. So, even if the unthinkable happens on Thursday, you can still see the sparks fly Friday.

Ocean City

The Boardwalk fireworks display is at 9 p.m. on July Fourth after two unique events: A kite flying competition and a free concert on the beach from the Ocean City Pops.

The Wildwoods

A July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular will be launched at 10 p.m. from the Pine Avenue Beach. There’s a rain date of July 5 here too.

Stone Harbor

Stone Harbor Recreation Field at 82nd Street at 9:15p.m. is where it’s at if you live or are vacationing here. Many of the fireworks are the cherry on top of a full day of events in each particular town. Be sure to plan ahead for meals, parking and beach chairs.

Beyond the bang

If fireworks aren’t your thing, check out the happening at the casinos this weekend. What completes an Independence Day fit like nothing else? How about a free hat from Bally's Atlantic City? Grab yours at The Yard and at Bally’s Beach Bar. There’s one caveat: You’ll have to buy a red, white and blue cocktail first.

Kesha will perform at the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena.
Grab the Crazy Kids in your life and head over to the Hard Rock on Wednesday for Kesha. Tickets start at a very reasonable $69 bucks. Get yours HERE.

Or, you can catch the one and only Donny Osmond in Donny Osmond - Direct From Vegas on Sunday at Hard Rock if you are a “little bit rock and roll.” Tickets start at $60.

We Belong at the Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo concert at Ovation Hall inside Ocean on Saturday. Because she has a great voice, good tunes and fun fact, we share the same birthday. Oh, and her husband, Neil, plays a mean guitar! There are several upper deck seats that are an absolute bargain at $29! That’s right. You can see an iconic artist in Ovation Hall for the cost of a round of well drinks in the lobby bar. Don’t miss it.

Finally, if you need a laugh, Fortune Feimster, is performing her Live Laugh Love Tour at the Tropicana. Grab some good vibes at this quirky, energetic show. Tickets start at $39.50.  There’s nothing like a holiday at the shore. Whether you will be beaching, boating or gaming, stay safe, stay hydrated and enjoy whatever fireworks you and your crew create.
