MARGATE - Fool Moon Theatre Company is having open auditions for “The Miracle Worker,” 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 13 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 14 at the Margate Community Church, 8900 Ventnor Ave. The company is seeking a diverse group of actors ages 6 and up.
The classic play chronicles the life of Helen Keller, who became deaf and blind at age 19 months, and her teacher, Annie Sullivan, who helps her learn to communicate. The story is about their relationship and Keller's achievements despite her disabilities and explores themes of motivation, connection and the importance of education.
All roles are open except Annie Sullivan. Those auditioning for the role of Helen Keller should be prepared for physical movement and to act blind and deaf. All other roles should be prepared to read sides from the script.
All rehearsals and performances will be held at the Margate Community Church. Performance dates are Sept. 20-22 and Sept. 27-29.
