Atlantic County Democrat party boss urges NJ Dems to reaffirm support for Biden

  • Atlantic County
By NANETTE LoBIONDO GALLOWAY ABSECON - Atlantic County Democratic Chairman Michael Suleiman early today encouraged Democrat county chairs and Congressional delegates to keep “riding with Biden.” In a statement sent to local media outlets, Suleiman reaffirmed his support for Biden’s campaign to win another four years in the White House and urged other party leaders to continue their support for the president in the upcoming General Election on Nov.5. Biden horrified viewers with his poor performance during a CNN debate with former President Donald J. Trump who is seeking to win back the presidency he lost to Biden in the 2020 campaign. Trump never conceded the election and encouraged supporters on Jan. 6, 2021, to march on the Capital and take back their government. The debate left many party officials wondering if Biden is too old to survive a second term. Some have called for him to step aside and let a younger candidate take on Trump. "Growing up in Atlantic County, I learned that we don't abandon our own. As a family, we stick together and tough it out. That's why I'm reaffirming my support for President Biden,” he said. Suleiman said political elites and corporate media would benefit from the chaos created if Biden should drop out of the race. “Regular folks I talk to outside of the political bubble are sticking with Joe, and so am I,” Suleiman said. “Democratic primary voters overwhelmingly voted for the Biden-Harris ticket, and the wishes of our rank-and-file members should not be cast away.” He urged the district’s Congressional delegation and county chairs to reaffirm their support for the Biden-Harris ticket they voted for at the Democratic Convention held at Renault Winery on Feb. 17. "Let's show the nation that New Jersey Democrats are united behind Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” he said.
