Margate’s MBA Wine Tasting to be held in a new location this year

  • Community

MARGATE – The 21st annual MBA Wine and Spirits Tasting is scheduled to start a new decade of fundraising for the benefit of Margate school children 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 26. The annual premier social event of the summer season will be held in a new location this year – at the recently reopened Memories in Margate.

The annual wine and spirits tasting and auction raises funds to support the Daniel and Maria Walters Scholarship program and provide support for students of the city’s public schools.

Since its inception, the scholarship program, founded by the Walters as a way to give back to the community, has awarded more than $130,000 to students who have attended Margate City schools. The event also supports the MBA’S Children Fund, which anonymously provides warm clothing, school supplies, food, eyeglasses, summer camp for latch key children, toys and more for children of the Margate schools.

The event provides summer excitement with its live auction hosted by auctioneer Lou Solomon, and a silent auction consisting of items donated by local businesses, from show tickets, golf packages and overnight stays to sports memorabilia, bicycles and boutique gift certificates. Items up for auction will be posted online at BidPal before and during the event.

The event, which is co-chaired by Realtors Paula Hartman and Dana Hartman-Hiltner, includes music, dancing, amazing food, Jagielky’s chocolates, and tastings of wine and craft beers and spirits.

Tickets, which usually sell out early, are $100 per person. The MBA is currently seeking sponsorships and donations.
