Supporters and opponents of the Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project have until Aug. 13 to comment on their views of the wind energy program’s effect on air quality.
The Atlantic Shores project will include up to 200 offshore wind turbines, up to 17 small-to-large substations to collect electricity produced, and underground cables to transport the energy to substations on the mainland.
According to the EPA’s analysis, the project mees all applicable Clean Air Act requirements.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has extended its request for written comments on its Outer Continental Shelf Air Permit. Written comments on the permit may be submitted by email to [email protected].
The EPA will also hold a virtual public hearing 6-8 p.m. Aug. 12 for the public to submit oral comments. It will not be an information session and EPA officials will not be answering questions.
The EPA recommends commentors review documents and information posted on the EPA website at https://www.epa.gov/caa-permitting/caa-permits-issued-epa-region-2
