Mays Landing library branch closed until January 2025 for HVAC installation

  • Local

The Mays Landing branch of the Atlantic County Library System, 40 Farragut Ave., closed temporarily as of Monday, Aug. 26 for the installation of a new $2.68 million HVAC system and generator. The library branch is expected to reopen in January 2025.

“This is one of several HVAC replacement projects within our library system in recent years. We hope these improvements will further enhance the enjoyment of our facilities that are widely used by community members,” Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said.

Despite remaining closed for construction, the library’s second floor meeting room will still serve as an Early Voting location for the general election, Oct. 26 through Nov. 3.

Partial funding for the project has been provided through a NJ State Library Construction Bond Grant and American Rescue Plan.

As a result of the closure, the four electric vehicle charging stations in the library parking lot will not be available through Sept. 3 but will then become available for the remainder of the project.

During the closure, patrons are encouraged to visit any of the library system’s other nine branches. Visit www.atlanticlibrary.org for locations, hours and contact information. Patrons may also access digital media services and databases 24/7 on the website.

The Mays Landing branch’s book drop box, located in the front of the building, will remain open for the return of any borrowed materials.
