LONGPORT – Police here reported that two vehicles stolen out of Longport Monday night were quickly recovered in offshore communities.

Sgt. Ray Burgan reported that the Longport Police Department responded to multiple reports of motor vehicle thefts in the 100-block of N. Evergreen Avenue. The thefts were believed to have occurred between late night hours of July 28 and early morning hours of July 29.

Within a few hours of beginning their investigation into the thefts of a 2024 Mercedes sedan and a 2023 Toyota Highlander, Longport Officers Dean Tibbitt, Liam Nolan, Jonathan Saggese and Owen Kramer successfully recovered both stolen vehicles in Egg Harbor City and Hamilton Township, where law enforcement located and secured the vehicles until Longport Police could arrive on location. The vehicles were in good condition when Longport police recovered them.

“The collaborative efforts and seamless coordination between our agencies reflect the dedication and professionalism of law enforcement in ensuring justice and public safety,” Burgan said.

Longport Police urged residents to take necessary precautions to prevent motor vehicle thefts by removing key fobs from vehicles when not in use, locking vehicles and securing keys inside homes.

“Together, we can make it more challenging for criminals to target our community for theft,” Burgan said in the release.

Burgan said the investigation is continuing. No suspects have been identified at this time.

“We encourage anyone with information related to the motor vehicle thefts or and suspicious activities in the area to contact the Longport Police Department immediately. Your cooperation and vigilance are essential in maintaining a safe and secure community for everyone,” he said.
