An overhead drone video of Lavender Waves Farm reveals why it's the world's most unique circular lavender field. A gazebo is situated in the center with rows of lavender flowers extending like rays of sunshine. The radiant bloom brightens the atmosphere with hope and beauty, mesmerizing all who visit the outdoor paradise. Lavender Waves Farm is owned and operated by local anesthesiologist Dr. Henry Cabrera and is home to the infamous three amigo camels named Humphrey, Jack and Bingham. With peak lavender bloom approaching in late June through early August and the second bloom bursting through October, the furry fellows are preparing for the excited guests who will soon visit the farm. The locally-owned 14-acre lavender farm is situated in the heart of Southern Rhode Island in South Kingstown. Lavender Waves Farm has 60 animals, 4,000 lavender plants of 10 varieties, and a luxury Airbnb farm suite. The farm hosts various special events, including yoga sessions, weddings, private parties, exclusive stays, and more. Its stunning sunsets provide an ideal backdrop for senior photos and wedding engagement pictures, adding an extra touch of magic to cherished moments. People with a membership get the best bang for their buck, including private access to the farm, educational farm tours and bundles of dried lavender to take home and enjoy. Lavender Waves Farm Is A Premier Wedding Venue Lavender Waves Farm has also emerged as an exclusive wedding venue for couples looking for an enchanting, whimsical experience with a brilliant backdrop of lavender setting a scene of serenity and hope. Using lavender in weddings creates a rustic, garden-style environment, and the flower offers many possibilities. Weddings are available for people who have an exclusive membership with LWF. The luxurious rustic Farm Suite is also available for rent and can be used as a bridal suite. The potential for integrating lavender into weddings is boundless. Culinary-grade lavender offers versatile uses, from garnishing cocktails to adorning wedding cakes and baked treats. Infusing honey or sugar with its gentle floral notes creates charming guest favors. Also, the durability of lavender allows for its incorporation into place cards, boutonnieres, centerpieces, and countless other wedding accents. With pets on the property, guests love to visit with the animals and walk through the lavender fields between the wedding ceremony and reception. Dr. Henry Cabrera and Lavender Waves Farms Have Created An Outdoor Paradise Dr. Henry Cabrera and his staff work hard to maintain his lavender rows, ensuring they're well-groomed and ready for those who visit. His property also offers a beautiful Luxury Farm Suite on Airbnb for guests to stay overnight. Guests can also indulge in a delightful three-or-five-course lavender-themed dining experience, adding a touch of enchantment to their visit. Guests who are members can also have weddings and luxury picnics offered, as well as the ability to book private time on the farm for special gatherings and events. Dr. Cabrera says the options are endless. "When people come and stay, they have a gorgeous view of the lavender fields," Dr. Henry Cabrera explained. "And then there are other things we offer, like events. At the end of the day, it's a garden and part of the business for gardens is getting people to come and view it and create experiences with their families in nature." The farm is situated in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, and sprawls across 14 acres, providing a picturesque retreat. It can be located at 3814 Commodore Perry Hwy, Wakefield, RI 02879. Dr. Cabrera's passion extends beyond cultivating flowers; he fosters a culture of curiosity and camaraderie. What began as a simple hobby has evolved into a flourishing enterprise celebrated for its distinctive embrace of the natural world. "Once I realized that lavender is a unique boutique crop, everything changed," said Dr. Henry Cabrera. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in pre-professional studies. He earned his MD from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten. When he’s away from the hospital, he enjoys mingling with visitors at Lavender Waves Farms, he said. The farm is his passion. "What started for me as a hobby has quickly blossomed into a thriving business known for its unique approach to nature." Dr. Cabrera's Lavender Farms: A Premier Agritourism Destination Lavender Farms stands out as a prime example of success in agritourism. Dr. Cabrera made significant improvements upon purchasing the land and for the last decade, he's focused on essential upgrades like installing electricity and fixing the water system. With a keen eye on animal welfare, Dr. Cabrera expanded the facilities to include three stables, Dutch doors, and a dedicated poultry area. Among the farm's attractions are its rare camels, a delight for children and families. The camels belong to two primary breeds: the Dromedary, also known as the Arabian camel, found abundantly worldwide, and the less common Bactrian camel, notable for its double humps and native to cold-weather regions of Asia. Despite their dwindling numbers in the wild, Lavender Farms proudly houses three of the five privately held Bactrian camels in Rhode Island, alongside two Dromedary camels named Jack and Bingham. In addition to the camels, chickens play a vital role in the farm's ecosystem by naturally controlling pests without chemicals. Dr. Cabrera's commitment to sustainability is evident in Lavender Farms' operations. His overarching vision for Lavender Farms combines historic preservation with modern, sustainable farming practices, making it a destination for agritourism enthusiasts. "We have the only two dromedary camels in Rhode Island named Jack and Bingham," Dr. Cabrera explained. "Jack is the brown one, and Bingham is the white one. They're about 15 years old and were raised together, and we acquired them in March 2023. Humphrey is our gorgeous 3-year-old Bactrian camel. We've had him since he was 5.5 months old. We acquired him from a breeder in Michigan. The dromedaries came from a private individual in Wisconsin. These giant animals are a spectacular addition to any event as they mesmerize guests with their incredible size." Dr. Henry Cabrera works hard to keep the farm's historical charm while incorporating sustainable and modern farming methods. Visitors of all ages cherish both his animals and lavender fields.
