Loreto Aramendi

ATLANTIC CITY - Loreto Aramendi, the organist of the Santa Maria Basilica in San Sebastián, Spain, will open the tenth season of free noontime organ recitals Wednesday, April 3 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. The concert is free and tickets are available for a luncheon after the recital.

Aramendi has been a recurring guest artist at Boardwalk Hall and has given numerous organ recitals at international festivals in the USA, Japan, Canada, Argentina, Chile, Moscow, and most European countries.

Originally started as a way to get the word out about the Midmer-Losh pipe organ restoration project being conducted by the Historic Organ Restoration Committee, Inc., the recitals now welcome thousands of spectators throughout the year.

At its inception in 2014, only 10% of the iconic Midmer-Losh pipe organ was functional. Thanks to countless donations from the public, the pipe organ is now functioning at 64% capacity and continues to improve every day under the care of a team of organ technicians and volunteers led by Boardwalk Hall Organ Curator Nathan Bryson.

The free recitals will take place at 12 p.m. Wednesdays April through December, and weekdays between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

The Historic Organ Restoration Committee welcomes organists from around the world to give a varied program of music that showcases the versatility of a one-person symphony orchestra and not simply organ music.

Tickets for the luncheon and tour after the recital are $25 and can be purchased at www.boardwalkorgans.org.

Donations are always welcome, and more information on the project can be found at www.boardwalkorgans.org.
