SCOSA Successful Aging Festival to be held May 15 at Stockton's main campus.
GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - More than 40 exhibitors and vendors will gather at Stockton University's Campus Center 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 for the annual Successful Aging Festival, presented by the Stockton Center on Successful Aging.
The festival's theme, Powered by Connections, will focus on the profound impact meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being.
The keynote lecture by Paul W. Bohn, professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, is titled, " The Future of Personalized Healthcare through Precision Medicine."
Breakout sessions include a physical therapy workshop for maximizing independence; Devices, Apps and AI; the 4M's of Age-friendly Health Care; brain health; chair yoga; Baby Steps into the Blue Zones, and more. Guests can support local artists, artisans and writers in the Marketplace, which will include books by local authors, samples of Stockton maple syrup and more. The festival will also celebrate the retirement of Dave Burdick, SCOSA's founder and director and a psychology professor at Stockton since 1984.
This year's festival includes a public hearing of the Atlantic County Area Agency on Aging to share the services provided through the Older Americans Act and to seek public input for a plan for future services for the years 2025-2027.
Admission is free and parking is available in front of the Campus Center, 101 Vera King Farris Drive. Stockton is on NJ Transit bus route 508.
