Longport welcomes back two Class 1 officers

LONGPORT - Commissioner of Public Safety Dan Lawler swore-in two Class 1 officers during the Board of Commissioners meeting Wednesday, May 15.

Patrick Quinn and Numa Rodrigues-Rojas were sworn-in to their second term as Special Law Enforcement Officers.

Both officers worked for the Longport Police Department last year and are back to assist with patrols during the busy summer season.

In other business, the board appointed Rober Morratti as a new member of the Longport Volunteer Fire Department.

The board also held a public hearing and approved an ordinance that raises the fees charged to obtain vital records, such as birth, death, fetal death, marriage, civil union and domestic partnership certificates, to $15 for the first copy, and $10 for each additional copy.

It also approved an ordinance creating a Junior Firefighter Auxiliary for participants ages 16-18.

Additionally, it introduced an ordinance raising fees charged for, variances, minor and major site plans and subdivisions, building and zoning appeals and escrow fees required for professionals to review applications. A public hearing on the ordinance will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 19.
