MARGATE - JFS announced the promotion of Begum Malali to the position of director of Food Security Initiatives for Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties.

Begum will oversee the Food and Family Pantry, Kosher Meals on Wheels, Shop at Home, and provide assistance with SNAP benefits. In addition, she will focus on advocating for food security for people in the region as well as collaborate with other community providers to strengthen food initiatives.

Prior to her promotion, Begum held the position of intake coordinator at JFS. With more than 11 years of behavioral health, benefits, social work and residential treatment experience, Begum will utilize her knowledge and skills to ensure more than 10,000 people each year receive hearty foods, hygiene and baby products and other necessary resources.

Begum graduated with a Master of Science in Counseling Studies from Capella University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Wilmington University.

“Begum’s career expertise, coupled with a keen knowledge about health and human services, and being an advocate for people in need, makes her the ideal person for this agency role,” JFS Chief Impact Officerd Laura Rodgers said. “With food insecurity prevalent throughout Atlantic County, and in particular, Atlantic City, Begum will provide quality, mission-driven services to assist people in the community.”
