Rehabilitation services for veterans now available at Northfield facility

  • Health

NORTHFIELD - Atlantic County veterans in need of short-term rehabilitation services covered by the Department of Veterans Affairs may now receive those services at the county’s Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northfield.

Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said that starting Oct. 1, Meadowview will accept veterans through the VA’s Community Care Network for rehabilitation services of 100 days or less.

“This is yet another outstanding service we are able to offer our veterans to provide them with the convenience of needed medical assistance close to home and to their loved ones,” he said.

Services may include physical therapy, speech and occupational therapy.

Applications will be submitted through the VA to determine eligibility. Upon approval, they will then be shared with Meadowview staff to confirm the facility’s ability to accommodate the patient’s needs.

“We will have a social worker, clinical staff and our VA Coordinator working with the veterans and their families to ensure positive outcomes,” Levinson said. “We hope to enjoy the same success we have had with our long-term care for veterans within our 30-bed Veterans Wing. We continue to prioritize the needs of our veterans who enabled us to have the freedom and quality of life we have today. We can never fully repay them, but we can certainly do our best to help them with long and short-term medical care.”
