Artists wanted for Atlantic County Recycled Art Contest

  • Community

EGG HARBOR TOWNSNHIP - The Atlantic County Utilities Authority is inviting local artists of all ages to participate in its 10th annual Recycled Art Contest. Community members are encouraged to create unique pieces of art using materials that would normally be discarded in the trash or recycling bin. Submissions will be accepted at Atlantic County library branches now through Oct. 31.

“Art is a great way to engage the community and start conversations about consumption and waste,” ACUA President Matthew DeNafo said. “We look forward to hosting this contest once again and seeing the creative submissions.”

The contest is open to all residents of Atlantic County, and winners will be chosen in four age categories: 8 and under, 9 to 13, 14-17 and 18 and over, as well as a Group category.

Entry forms and artwork must be received before Oct. 31 at participating libraries. These include the Atlantic County Library System branches in Absecon, Brigantine, Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Hammonton, Pleasantville, Somers Point and Ventnor. Entries may also be submitted to Stockton University's Richard E. Bjork Library (Galloway Township campus), the libraries at Atlantic Cape Community College campuses in Mays Landing and Atlantic City, the Linwood Public Library, or the Otto Bruyns Public Library of Northfield.

Artwork will later be judged, and pieces will be moved to the ACUA for exhibition. Winners will be recognized during the ACUA’s annual America Recycles Day celebration on Saturday, Nov. 16.
